The Oakland Raiders mourn the recent passing of Tom Keating. Keating was a defensive lineman for the Raiders for seven seasons from 1966-72 and earned American Football League All-Star honors in 1966 and 1967.
He started at defensive tackle when Raiders recorded 13-1 regular season record, captured the AFL title in 1967 and appeared in Super Bowl II*. *
That year, Keating played on a line with Ben Davidson, Dan Birdwell and Ike Lassiter, who contributed to a Raiders defense that finished with the fewest yards rushing and the fewest rushing yards per attempt in the AFL.
The Chicago-native was a three-year starter at the University of Michigan before entering pro football with Buffalo in 1964 and played for the Bills for two seasons prior to joining the Raiders. Keating also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs before retiring from professional football in 1975.
