Rams Shut Out Raiders 52-0

The Rams won the opening coin toss and elected to defer. RB George Atkinson III made his NFL debut as the Raiders kickoff returner. Atkinson fielded the kickoff and took a knee for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Rams held the Raiders to a three-and-out and P Marquette King came on. WR Tavon Austin returned the 43-yard punt 4 yards to the St. Louis 41.

RB Tre Mason capped the 4-play drive with a catch and run on a screen pass for 35 yards and a touchdown. The PAT was good and the Rams led 7-0 with 12:04 left 1st quarter.

Atkinson fielded the ensuing kickoff for a touchback and started their second drive at the 20. The Raiders went three and out again and King came on to punt. Austin had trouble handling the punt thanks to a heads up play by S Larry Asante but the Rams recovered at the 22.

Hill capped the 7-play, 78-yard drive with a 2-yard TD run. The extra point was good and the Rams took a 14-0 lead with 7:12 left in the 1st quarter.

Atkinson mishandled the ensuing kickoff and WR Kenbrell Thompkins picked the ball up and ran out to the Oakland 18. The Rams held the Raiders to a third consecutive three and out and King came on to punt. Austin returned the 46-yard punt 10 yards to the Rams 39.

Austin finished the drive with a TD run on a jet sweep for 18 yards and the score. The PAT was good and the Rams led 21-0 with 2:37 left in the 1st quarter.

Atkinson returned the ensuing kickoff 22 yards to the Oakland 14. A false start on 4th and 1 derailed the Raiders plans to go for it in Rams territory. King came on to punt. CB Chimdi Chekwa downed the punt at the Rams 6.

After an encroachment penalty, Mason took a handoff and zoomed 89 yards for the touchdown. The extra point was good and the Rams led 28-0 with 11:14 left in the 1st quarter.

Even after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Rams was enforced on the kickoff, the kick still reached the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders next drive ended when CB E.J. Gaines intercepted an ill-advised Carr pass and returned it to the Oakland 23.

TE Cory Harkey took advantage when Hill found him with a 4-yard TD pass. The PAT was good and the Rams took a 35-0 lead with 8:10 left in the 1st quarter.

Atkinson fielded the ensuing kickoff and took a knee for a touchback. CB Trumaine Johnson picked off a Carr pass and returned it to the Oakland 13. A DE Justin Tuck sack forced a field goal attempt. K Greg Zuerlein's 38-yard kick was good and gave the Rams a 38-0 lead with 5:27 left in the 2nd quarter.

Atkinson mishandled the kickoff and was dropped at the Oakland 4. The Raiders first promising drive of the day fizzled after the team crossed midfield. King's 47-yard punt bounced into the end zone. Hill took a knee to end the half and the Rams took a 38-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The teams traded five punts to start the third quarter. The Raiders third drive of the quarter ended when FB Marcel Reece fumbled and the Rams recovered and returned it to the Oakland 34. The Raiders forced a three and out and took over at the 8-yard line after the punt.

The Raiders drive stalled and they failed to convert on 4th and 5. The Rams took over on downs at the St. Louis 45. Mason capped the drive with an 8-yard TD run and the Rams led 45-0 with 12:47 to go.

After another touchback, Matt Schaub entered the game at quarterback for the Raiders. That promising drive ended with a sack/fumble and the Rams took over at the St. Louis 36.

The Raiders defense held and forced a punt. A few plays later Schaub threw a pick six and the Rams led 52-0 with 5:24 left in the game.

The Raiders return home to face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 action.
