The Oakland Raiders hit the field Thursday, not at their Alameda, Calif., facility, but at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum for a rare night practice. The Raiders kick off the 2009 campaign Monday evening at 7:15 p.m.

Head Coach Tom Cable felt that a Thursday night practice session would be a good way to get the team ready for ESPN's Monday Night Football and the start of the Silver and Black's 50th season of professional football.

"It was great. The purpose was to go out there and practice the same time we're going to play Monday night," Coach Cable said. "What we got done was what a typical Wednesday would be for us in terms of game planning. It was very good."

Be sure to log on Friday for a complete game preview and more coverage of Thursday night's practice session.
