First Looks - Jacksonville Jaguars

The Raiders will host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 action, Sunday, October 21, at O.co Coliseum. The two teams first met in 1996 and have played each other five times with Jacksonville leading the series 4-1.

Coach and record

The Jaguars are coached by Mike Mularkey who was hired as the head coach in January 2012. Mularkey was hired after spending four seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. He helped the Falcons reach the playoffs three of those four years. Prior to his offensive coordinator position in Atlanta, Mularkey was the tight ends coach (2007) and offensive coordinator (2006) for the Miami Dolphins. He was the head coach of the Buffalo Bills (2004-05) and worked for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1996-03) as tight ends coach and offensive coordinator. Mularkey played nine seasons in the NFL.

Last five match ups

The Raiders last faced the Jaguars in Jacksonville on December 12, 2010. Oakland fell to the Jaguars 38-31. RB Darren McFadden recorded 209 all-purpose yards (123 rushing, 86 receiving) and scored three TDs. SS Mike Mitchell had an interception and SS Tyvon Branch led the team with six tackles.

The Raiders struggled against the Jaguars at Jacksonville in 2007, losing 49-11. RB Dominic Rhodes rushed 27 times for 115 yards and LB Thomas Howard led the team with seven tackles.

The Raiders lost to the Jaguars 20-9 at home in 1997. WR Tim Brown caught 14 passes for 164 yards, RB Napoleon Kaufman had 94 rushing yards and QB Jeff George threw for 244 yards and a TD.

In the two teams' first meeting, Sunday, September 15, 1996, the Raiders beat the Jaguars 17-3. WR Tim Brown caught five passes for 60 yards and a TD and DT Jerry Ball intercepted a pass and returned it 66 yards for a TD.

QB Terrelle Pryor and CB Chimdi Chekwa were at Ohio State with C Mike Brewster and WR Brian Robiskie, son of former Raiders coach Terry Robiskie.

SS Mike Mitchell played at Ohio University with Jaguars WR Taylor Price.

FS Michael Huff and Jaguars CB Aaron Ross played at the University of Texas together.
