Giants Come back to Beat Raiders

The New York Giants defeated the Oakland Raiders 24-20 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in 2013 Regular Season Week 10 action. 

The Giants won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. WR Jerrel Jernigan fumbled the opening kickoff and WR Andre Holmes recovered it and returned it to the 5. Two plays later, QB Terrelle Pryor was in the end zone. The extra point was good and the Raiders led 7-0 with 14:07 left in the 1st quarter. 

K Sebastian Janikowski's ensuing kickoff flew out of the back of the end zone for a touchback and the Giants started at the 20. The Raiders forced a three-and-out as safety Usama Young sacked QB Eli Manning on 3rd down. P Steve Weatherford's 51-yard punt rolled dead at the Oakland 27. 

The Raiders drive stalled near midfield and P Marquette King came on. The Giants tied the game when they blocked King's punt and returned it for a touchdown. The extra point was good and the score was tied 7-7 with 9:22 left 1st quarter. 

CB Taiwan Jones fielded the ensuing kickoff in the end zone and took a knee for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders drive stalled at the 36 and King came on to punt. WR Reuben Randle returned the booming 61-yard punt to the Giants 15. 

A few plays later, RB Peyton Hillis fumbled the ball back to the Raiders and the Silver and Black took over at the New York 21. The Raiders were forced to settle for a Janikowski field goal attempt. The 33-yard kick was good and the Raiders took a 10-7 lead with 3:21 left in the 1st quarter. 

Jernigan fielded the ensuing kickoff deep in his end zone and took a knee for a touchback and the Giants started at the 20. The Raiders allowed one first down before forcing a punt. Weatherford's 36-yard punt bounced out of bounds at the Raiders 31. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Randle called for and made a fair catch the New York 10. Manning capped an 11-play, 90-yard drive with a 5-yard TD pass to Randle. The PAT was good and the Giants led 14-10 with 7:36 left in the 2ndquarter.

Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 41 yards to the Raiders 41. A promising drive was derailed by penalties and King came on to punt. King's 59-yard punt was downed at the New York 3.

Several plays later CB Tracy Porter picked off Manning and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown. The PAT was good and the Raiders led 17-14 with 1:18 left 2nd quarter.

Janikowski's kick flew through the end zone for a touchback and the Giants started at the 20. The Giants ran the ball a few times after Manning was sacked on 1st down and the Raiders took a 17-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Jones fielded the opening kickoff of the second half in the end zone for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders drove deep into Giants territory but we forced to Settle for a Janikowski field goal. The 24-yard kick was good and the Raiders led 20-14 with 6:56 left in the 3rd.

The ensuing kickoff went for a touchback and the Giants started at the 20. The Raiders held the Giants to a three-and-out and Weather ford came on to punt. Weatherford's punt went out of bounds at the Giants 48.

A few plays later, Pryor was intercepted and CB Terrell Thomas returned it to the Raiders 5. A couple of plays later, RB Andre Brown scored from a yard out and the Giants took the lead 21-20 late in the 3rd.

The Raiders were forced to punt. Randle returned King's 47-yard punt to the New York 25. The Giants managed a 23-yard field goal to increase their lead to 24-20 with 8:04 left in the game.

The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. The Giants started at the Oakland 44 after the punt and the return. The Raiders forced a punt and blocked it. The Raiders started at their own 33.

The Raiders managed a first down before Pryor was sacked and fumbled. The Giants recovered and took over at the Raiders 45.  The Raiders never saw the ball again.

The Raiders fall to 3-6 on the season and head to Houston to take on the Texans next Sunday at Reliant Stadium.
