- The Bears make their first preseason trip to Oakland since the first time the Raiders and Bears played in the preseason in 1977.
- The Raiders leads the all-time preseason series against the Bears, 5-4.
- LB Nick Roach was acquired by the Raiders as a free agent in April after playing the past six seasons as a member of the Chicago Bears. This preseason game will be Roach's first matchup against his former team.
- Current Chicago Bears players who are former Raiders include QB Josh McCown (2007) and RB Michael Bush (2008-11).
- The Chicago Bears new head coach, Marc Trestman, has a history with the Raiders. He was a senior assistant coach in 2001 and became the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
