Thursday Camp Notebook

The Silver and Black had an intensive day of practice as they closed their eighth day of Training Camp workouts.  The Oakland Raiders continue to focus and move forward in mastering formations and blocking schemes, and executing plays.

The Raiders welcomed special guests on Thursday as five of the six International Guest Coaches arrived in Napa.  The coaches, from several countries, are in Napa to learn football the Raider way and experience the Training Camp environment.

Head Coach Tom Cable addressed media after the morning practice session.

"The officials are here for obvious reasons. We got them here for the next three days.  There's no secret we've had a discipline problem in the last few years, so we have really stressed that before they got here and trying to clean it up." Coach Cable said.  "That will be the goal here the next couple of days to really use them, get the players to talk to them about why, so they have an understanding what those guys are looking for."

Raiders players seemed to be in a good mood and the excitement was felt on the sidelines as well.

According to Coach Cable, he looks for the defense to set the tone. "I like it because as I talk to them all the time, for us to get competitive you have to demand of each other more than we can demand ourselves," Coach Cable said.

Also, Coach Cable spoke to the media briefly after the second practice of the day and announced that DE Derrick Burgess has been traded to the New England Patriots.
