2014 High School Coach of the Year

The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week program", presented by the California National Guard, promotes high school football, giving high school coaches and teams the recognition that they deserve. 

Each recipient will be awarded a $2,000 donation to the school's football program from The Oakland Raiders, the NFL Foundation and California National Guard, a certificate signed by the Oakland Raiders head coach.

Coach of the Year:  

Terry Hendrix Jr., from Fremont High School in Oakland, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Year" winner. Coach Hendrix has demonstrated all the qualities of an amazing leader and doubled his team's win total from the previous year. Combining his ability to teach the skills of football with his knack for shaping young minds, Terry has truly become a role model for his players. While faced with the challenge of various equipment and facility needs, Coach Hendrix led his team to a playoff berth and a victory in their first playoff game.  

Congratulations to Coach Hendrix and the Fremont High School Football program!

Week 11

Ralph Meredith, from Newark Memorial High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Cougars of Newark Memorial defeated Washington High School qualifying themselves for the NCS Playoffs. A tight game up until the final seconds, Newark Memorial pulled out a 17-14 victory over the Huskies of Washington High. Newark Memorial High School improved their record to 4-6 on the season.

Week 10

Rae Jackson, from John F. Kennedy High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Eagles of Kennedy High School defeated Berean Christian High School with a 4th quarter comeback. A touchdown capped off the comeback as Kennedy High took down the Eagles of Berean Christian, helping their students celebrate Homecoming. Kennedy High School improved their record to 5-4 on the season.

Week 9

Alan Hern, from Alhambra High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Bulldogs defeated Dublin High School in a last minute nail biter. A 75-yard touchdown capped off the comeback as Alhambra High took down the Gaels of Dublin High. Alhambra improved their record to 6-2 on the season.

Week 8

Jason Stolpe, from River City High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Raiders of River City defeated Woodland High School with a 4th quarter comeback. A 60-yard touchdown pass with 2:13 remaining on the clock capped off the comeback as River City High took down the Wolves of Woodland, spoiling their Senior Night. River City tallied their second win of the season.

Week 7

Terry Smith, from Tennyson High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Lancers defeated Bishop O'Dowd High School in a high scoring affair, 33-31. Kicking a field goal as time expired, Tennyson knocked off the favored Dragons of Bishop O'Dowd.  Tennyson improved their record to 4-2-1 on the season.

Week 6

Ed Washington, from Castlemont High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Knights defeated Emery High School in dominant defensive fashion not allowing a second half score. Castlemont recorded their second win of the young season, after not winning a game over the previous three seasons. The Knights improve their record to 2-2 on the season.

Week 5

Ed Smith, from Skyline High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Titans defeated San Lorenzo High School in a high scoring affair with a final score of 56-40. Their defense came up clutch when they needed to in the second half leading Skyline to their second win of the season. The Titans improve their record to 2-2 on the season.

Week 4

Tashaka Merriweather, from Richmond High School, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Oilers notched their first home win of the season defeating Mission San Jose 28-21. Richmond High was able to keep their one touchdown lead through the final minutes and take down the Warriors.

Week 3

George Zuber, from James Logan High School in Union City, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Colts travelled on the road last week to defeat favored San Ramon Valley High School 28-23. James Logan took a lead into halftime and held off a 2nd half comeback to seal the game. James Logan has started the season with a 2-1 record.

Week 2

Terry Hendrix Jr., from Fremont High School in Oakland, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week" winner. The Tigers defeated Hayward High School 32-24 last week with a touchdown in the final minutes to seal the game. Fremont has started their season with a 1-0 record.

Week 1

Michael Peters, from McClymonds High School in Oakland, was named The Oakland Raiders High School "Coach of the Week." The Warriors defeated Bradshaw Christian High School from Sacramento 71-14 last week.  McClymonds starts the season with a dominant win in which they scored 40 points before halftime.
