Four Turnovers Doom Raiders as Texans Win

The Raiders won the opening coin toss and elected to defer their choice to the second half. K Sebastian Janikowski's opening kickoff flew out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Texans started at the 20 with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. Fitzpatrick capped the drive with a 2-yard TD pass to DE J.J. Watt. The extra point was good and the Texans led 7-0 with 9:37 left in the 1st quarter.

RB Latavius Murray fielded the ensuing kickoff in the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders went three and out and P Marquette came on to punt. Johnson called for and made a fair catch of the 47-yard punt at the Texans 30.

RB Arian Foster capped a 70-yard drive with a 5-yard TD run and the Texans took a 14-0 lead with five seconds left in the first quarter.

Murray returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oakland 17. The Raiders first promising drive of the day ended when rookie QB Derek Carr was intercepted by CB Kareem Jackson and returned 56 yards to the Oakland 24. The pick set up a 33-yard field goal and the Texans led 17-0 with 10:31 left in the 2nd quarter.

The ensuing kickoff sailed out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders moved out to their 47 before the Texans forced a punt. Johnson fumbled the punt but recovered at the Texans 24. The Texans drove out to the Raiders 48 before the Silver and Black forced a punt. Rookie CB TJ Carrie called for and made a fair catch of the former Raiders P Shane Lechler punt at the Oakland 13.

The Texans got the ball back when WR James Jones fumbled the ball twice on the same reception.  After Jones recovered the first, the Texans recovered the second at the Houston 3.  The Raiders held and forced a punt, which Carrie returned to the Oakland 33.

The Raiders promising opening drive of the third quarter ended when the Texans recovered and returned a TE Mychal Rivera fumble to the Oakland 21. The Texans added to their lead with a 12-yard TD pass to WR DeAndre Hopkins. The extra point was good and the Texans led 24-0 with 8:29 left in the 3rd quarter.

Murray fielded the ensuing kickoff at the end line for a touchback. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Johnson returned the punt to the Oakland 45.

The Raiders forced the Texans to settle for a K Randy Bullock 39-yard FG attempt. The successful kick gave the Texans a 27-0 lead with 3:14 left in the 3rd.

Murray returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oakland 21. The Raiders got on the board when RB Darren McFadden swept around left end for a 1-yard TD run. Janikowski's PAT was good and the Texans lead was cut to 27-7 with 14:07 left in the 4th.

Janikowski's ensuing kickoff went out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Texans settled for a 46-yard field goal, which increased their lead to 30-7 with 4:46 left in the game.

Murray returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oakland 18. The Texans got the ball back when Watt hit Carr and LB Brooks Reid intercepted a pass and returned ito the Raiders 11. Ryan Mallett took over at quarterback. DE Justin Tuck blocked a 27-yard FG attempt and the Raiders took over at their own 17.

Carr capped the drive with a 9-yard TD pass to Jones. The PAT was good and Houston led 30-14 with 13 seconds left to play. The Texans recovered Janikowski's onside kick at the Houston 44. Mallett took a knee and ran out the clock.

The Raiders fall to 0-2 on the season and head to Foxborough, Mass., to face the New England Patriots next Sunday.
