LB Thomas Howard thanks the guests at Rosie McCann's and announces the raffle winners.

Recently, Raiders LB Thomas Howard hosted a Monday Night Football (MNF) viewing party at Rosie McCann's Irish Pub & Restaurant at Santana Row in San Jose, Calif. Attendees paid a cover at the door with all proceeds benefitting the Bay Area After-School All-Stars. Additionally, Rosie McCann's donated a percentage of their food and drink earnings to both the After-School All-Stars and the Thomas Howard Foundation. Rosie McCann's was packed with guests as they supported the foundation and after-school program, while enjoying the SF Giants World Series victory and MNF.

"Rosie McCann's was awesome," said Howard. "We want to make sure we thank the owner and manager. Mike the general manager did a great job, great hospitality. After-School All-Stars raised some good money today. Thank you to the folks of San Jose, the city for coming out and supporting it."

The guests were also able to purchase raffle tickets to support the After-School All-Stars. Following the Giants game, Howard announced the raffle winners. "We gave out Raider tickets, and we also gave dinner for two at Rosie McCann's, and we gave a Raider bag with a football," said Howard.

Howard has been working closely with the After-School All-Stars over the last two seasons. The All-Stars and the Thomas Howard Foundation encourage students to excel in both academics and athletics. "They're doing great work in middle schools in San Jose and in the Bay Area," Howard said about the After-School All-Stars. "My whole reason for getting involved, I'm trying to get this All-Star program in the middle schools in Oakland, Richmond, and Hayward, closer up in the East Bay because they do a great job. The middle schools set a foundation for high school and try to help with the dropout rate in high schools and build a good foundation for these kids."

Howard hopes that with events such as the viewing party at Rosie McCann's, he can help the After-School All-Stars expand to the East Bay. The Raiders linebacker continues to make an impact in the community, encouraging students to excel academically and athletically.
