Los Raiders vivieron su primer juego en casa de la temporada regular 2025 con una derrota ante los Cargadores al son de 20-9. A pesar del marcador, la defensa de Las Vegas logró contener a una ofensiva de alto nivel y dejó entrever aspectos positivos que esperan seguir mostrando en el campo que deben mantener motivada a la Nación Raider que hizo una gran presencia en el Estadio Allegiant.
"En general, se sintió como una oportunidad desperdiciada", dijo Pete Carroll sobre el primer descalabro que ha sufrido como entrenador en jefe del equipo. "El que haya sido en juego de lunes por la noche solo fue parte de ello, pero el que haya sido duelo divisional es lo que lo hizo una oportunidad real y no jugamos lo suficientemente bien del lado ofensivo con las pérdidas de balón que acumulamos. Eso será de lo que se hablará, pero realmente no jugamos lo suficientemente bien, y ellos nos cubrieron bastante bien".
La primera jugada al ataque del partido para los Malosos terminó con Geno Smith lanzando una intercepción en un pase bien defendido por los visitantes, siendo esa la primera de tres veces en este partido donde el mariscal de campo negro y plata fue interceptado.
"Esas son cosas de las que tengo que aprender y ser mejor", aseguró Smith quien apenas por sexta vez en los casi 100 juegos que ha disputado en la NFL tuvo tres de sus pases interceptados en el mismo partido. "Todo lo que no se ve bien ahí afuera, lo pongo sobre mis hombros. Siento que tengo que ser mucho mejor para nuestros muchachos".
Si bien los Raiders tuvieron tres pérdidas de balon en el juego, nunca se vieron abajo en la pizarra por más de dos posesiones gracias a la labor aguerrida de la defensiva negro y plata, con el déficit más grande al que se enfrentaron siendo de 14 puntos. Destacó cómo en el último cuarto le regresaron el balón a la ofensiva de Las Vegas tres veces por conducto de detener a los Cargadores en cuarta oportunidad, obligar a un tres y fuera, además de recuperar un balón suelto. Pero eso no fue suficiente debido a que la ofensiva de los Malosos no logró anotar más puntos.
"Cada juego es diferente. Tuvimos nuestras oportunidades, solo que no las capitalizamos", declaró el ala defensiva Maxx Crosby. "Es un juego en equipo, y tenemos que seguir mejorando como equipo y simplemente jugar fútbol americano complementario. Creo que hicimos algunas cosas bien, pero definitivamente hay espacio para mejorar, y podemos ver el video y mejorar a partir de esto".
El ataque de los Malosos se vio truncado en sus tres viajes a la zona roja, conformándose con dos goles de campo y la tercera intercepción de Geno dándose en las series donde lograron meterse dentro de la yarda 20 del rival.
"Estamos sentando las bases", declaró el receptor abierto Jakobi Meyers, quien se mostró positivo respecto a lo que viene tras tener 6 recepciones para 68 yardas. "Tenemos que ver qué funciona y qué no funciona. Es un poco temprano todavía, así que vamos a seguir empujando. Honestamente, es una temporada larga, y si esto define nuestra temporada, entonces estaríamos en problemas. Creo que estaremos bien. Vamos a reponernos de esto, aprender y mejorar".
Aunque se sufrió un descalabro, la apertura en casa dejó momentos para la esperanza. La defensa de los Raiders logró contener a una de las ofensivas más explosivas de la liga, y el equipo mostró disposición para aprender y corregir errores. Con un enfoque en la ejecución ofensiva y la disciplina, los Raiders buscarán volver a la senda de la victoria con una semana corta al visitar a los Commanders de Washington en la semana tres, con la certeza de que esta temporada es larga y llena de oportunidades.
