What to know

For the first time since 1966, the Raiders will play a game on a Friday. The Raiders are 4-6-1 all-time in Friday games, with their last being a win against the Miami Dolphins, 23-14, in Week 1, 1966.

Additionally, the Raiders and Chiefs have played on a Friday twice before in series history. The Chiefs – then known as the Dallas Texans – won 34-16 against the Raiders in Week 2 of the 1960 season, while the Raiders won 22-7 at KC in Week 10 of the 1963 season.

Who will be the starting quarterback for the Silver and Black in Kansas City is still up in the air after Gardner Minshew II broke his collarbone last Sunday, per Antonio Pierce. Aidan O'Connell, who has been on injured reserve due to a thumb injury since Week 7, returned to practice this week and is "ramping up," but the coaching staff and medical team are still evaluating if the second-year QB will be able to go.

"We've got a short week, so obviously, the timeline is kind of sped up," interim offensive coordinator Scott Turner said. "We're going to evaluate those guys. Ultimately, Coach will make the decision on who we're going with. You've just got to get somebody ready to play in a short period of time, but there's nothing you can do about it. You've got to control what you can control and whoever that ends up being, they'll be ready to go. We'll give them the best chance possible to go be successful."

  • The Chiefs lead the all-time regular season series against the Raiders, 72-54-2, dating back to 1960.
