El rugido del Estadio Allegiant volvió a sentirse. Los Raiders se impusieron 20-10 sobre los Titanes de Tennessee en una tarde donde la defensa marcó el tono y la ofensiva respondió en los momentos más importantes.
Más allá del marcador, este triunfo significó un punto de inflexión para el equipo negro y plata. Disciplina, ejecución y unión fueron las palabras que definieron la jornada. Los jugadores salieron al campo con determinación, ejecutaron su plan en las tres fases del juego y encontraron la recompensa del triunfo.
Con una defensa dominante, un Devin White intratable y una ofensiva que aún tiene áreas por pulir pero encontró el ritmo necesario para sumar los puntos clave, los Raiders pusieron fin a una racha de cuatro derrotas consecutivas y recuperaron algo más importante que el resultado: la confianza.
"Era importante darle la vuelta a esto porque llevábamos tiempo hablando de que íbamos a jugar buen fútbol americano, de que teníamos el formato y la fórmula correctos, pero simplemente no se había dado todavía", dijo el entrenador en jefe Pete Carroll, visiblemente emocionado al salir del emparrillado, resumiendo lo que significó esta victoria para todo el vestidor. "Así que conseguir un triunfo ahora, después de tanto tiempo sin ganar que casi ni lo recordamos, es realmente importante para nosotros. Estos muchachos merecen sentirse como se sienten ahora, y cómo se sentirán esta noche. Se van a sentir mucho mejor manejando a casa, llegando a la oficina mañana, el miércoles, y todo eso. Es algo que todos sentimos. Es bastante obvio."
El ataque negro y plata consiguió un gol de campo en su primera serie ofensiva del juego, abrió la segunda mitad metiéndose a la zona de anotación y aprovecharon un campo corto para su primer touchdown del partido en el segundo cuarto, bastando para obtener el triunfo en la semana seis con 226 yardas, incluyendo Geno Smith obteniendo 174 por aire.
"Era importante para nosotros encontrar nuestro ritmo", explicó el mariscal de campo Geno Smith sobre la importancia de que el ataque finalmente encontrara balance. "Tuvimos momentos donde nos trabamos, no fue un juego perfecto de ninguna manera, pero como dije, tomamos lo que la defensa nos dio. Jugamos limpio. Tuvimos conversiones importantes, incluyendo una de cuarta oportunidad justo al iniciar la segunda mitad, en una serie de ocho minutos que terminó en touchdown. Estamos madurando como grupo, cada jugador está empezando a encajar en su rol, y creo que vamos a seguir mejorando conforme avance la temporada".
Esa madurez se reflejó en las estadísticas: más de 32 minutos de posesión, sólo una pérdida de balón, y dos series largas que agotaron tiempo y moral del rival. Ashton Jeanty tuvo la mayor cantidad de acarreos que ha sumado en un partido en su temporada de novato al sumar 23 para 75 yardas y la anotación que selló la diferencia en el marcador. Esta fue apenas la segunda ocasión del 2025 en la que los Raiders corrieron más veces de las que lanzaron el balón.
"Sabemos lo que una victoria puede hacer por ti en esta liga", declaró Geno Smith al destacar el impacto emocional de romper la seguidilla negativa en la que se encontraban. "Nunca quieres estar en una racha así. Pero lo más importante es que nos mantuvimos unidos. La unión de este equipo, de la organización, es inigualable. Y conforme avancemos, necesitamos seguir ganando para recuperar nuestra confianza. Cada semana es una batalla, cada semana es una pelea, y tenemos que salir con la misma mentalidad que tuvimos esta, de hacerlo posible y conseguirlo."
Michael Mayer dejó su huella en este partido al regresar tras perderse los últimos dos partidos por estar en el protocolo de conmociones cerebrales. Tuvo cinco recepciones para 50 yardas y una anotación. Además, fue pieza importante en los bloqueos, compartiendo tiempo con Ian Thomas, mientras el equipo espera el regreso de Brock Bowers.
"Creo que tenemos un grupo de alas cerradas realmente bueno," dijo Mayer. "Cuando Brock regrese, será aún mejor. Ian puede bloquear, correr rutas, encontrar espacios abiertos… eso causa muchos problemas a una defensa. Hay equipos que usan a las alas cerradas solo para correr o solo para pasar, pero nosotros tenemos una buena mezcla. Chip Kelly hace un gran trabajo con las formaciones, y nuestro coach de posición, Luke Steckel, nos prepara bien. Solo vamos a seguir sumando y mejorando."
La unión y la resiliencia fueron visibles en cada serie defensiva y en cada tacleada clave. Los Raiders mostraron carácter y orgullo, especialmente en tercera oportunidad, limitando a Tennessee a convertir solo tres de 13 terceras oportunidades.
El linebacker Devin White tuvo una actuación estelar, encabezando una defensa que limitó a los Titans a solo 10 puntos y forzó dos entregas de balón. Su lectura y velocidad fueron un factor constante al encabezar al equipo con nueve tacleadas, una captura de mariscal de campo donde forzó un balón suelto, y una intercepción.
"Poder correr múltiples esquemas frente a un mariscal joven, cambiar coberturas y no ser unidimensional en nuestras formaciones", explicó White. "Queríamos mantenerlos fuera de balance. Hicimos un buen trabajo en eso. Elandon Roberts dominó el centro todo el día, lo que me permitió moverme libre por el lado trasero, leer y reaccionar. Podemos hacer muchas cosas cuando estamos sincronizados así."
White fue el alma de una defensa que recordó a la Raider Nation el espíritu físico e intimidante que siempre ha caracterizado a la franquicia.
La victoria no solo corta una racha. Reaviva la esperanza de una temporada que parecía desmoronarse. Los Raiders demostraron que, con disciplina, ejecución y unidad, pueden competir. Y aunque queda mucho por mejorar, la sensación en el vestidor era una mezcla de orgullo y determinación renovada.
"Estos muchachos merecen sentirse como se sienten ahora. Lo necesitaban. Todos lo necesitábamos", fue como Carroll lo resumió mejor que nadie.
Con este triunfo, los Raiders miran hacia adelante con un aire distinto. La próxima semana visitarán a los Jefes de Kansas City, con la oportunidad de demostrar que esta victoria no fue una casualidad, sino el primer paso hacia su resurgimiento.
