By the Numbers: Raiders defensive line put on a show against Titans

The Silver and Black came away with a 20-10 victory in Week 6 thanks to six sacks, three takeaways and maintaining a lead for the large majority of the game. While there were a few standouts from this contest, it was the ultimate team win in all three phases.

Here's a look at some metrics from the Raiders' Week 6 victory at Allegiant Stadium.

After Week 6, Maxx Crosby and Jonah Laulu both share the team lead in sacks with four each.

Laulu, the team's second-year defensive tackle, picked up his fourth sack of the season in the first quarter against the Titans, hitting a spin move inside to get to Cam Ward. Laulu also had three total tackles and a pass deflection on the day. He's the first Raiders defensive tackle to record four sacks in his first six games of a season since Bill Pickel in 1986.

"Jonah is playing his ass off," Maxx Crosby said. "He's making more and more plays every week."

Crosby had two sacks of his own Sunday, his first game with multiple sacks since Week 5 last year against the Denver Broncos. This was also his 14th career game with 2.0+ sacks, passing Howie Long (13) for the second most of such games in franchise history, since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

"I'm just blessed to play with such a great competitor as him," Devin White said of Crosby. "Everybody knows how talented he is, but people don't know how much work he puts in. ... He make that choice every day to be up that early and sacrifice everything to go be the greatest on the field."

It also can't go without mentioning AJ Cole and the role he played in the defense's success. Coming into the game questionable with a right ankle injury, he still played lights out with four punts downed inside the 20-yard line. It was first time he had as many punts inside the 20 since Week 17 of the 2023 season.

"His ankle's still sprained, but he got a couple kicks in on Friday, showed that he could do it, went out there and did a great job," Pete Carroll said. "And we had in this game, a part of the game that I love, we had a couple opportunities to sink him back in there, and we did it, and we factored into how he played."

35.1

The defensive line had their best showing so far this year, setting season highs in sacks (four), quarterback pressures (13) and pressure rate percentage (35.1) on quarterback dropbacks, according to Next Gen Stats. All of this was accomplished on snaps where the Raiders sent a four-man pass rush or fewer.

The defensive line also accounted for five of the team's seven tackles for loss, seven of eight quarterback hits, and both of their fumble recoveries.

"The standard we set for ourself in that room is top tier," Crosby said. "Love those guys, man. We have a ton of young guys, guys proving themselves and guys with a ton of energy. It's a blessing being able to go to work with them every day."

2022

Devin White had a vintage performance Sunday, reminding Raider Nation of the standout he was on the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl winning defense.

The Raiders linebacker led the team in total tackles (nine) and recorded a strip sack, an interception and a pass deflection. It was White's first forced fumble in a game since 2022, ironically that was a strip sack on Geno Smith when the Bucs were playing the Seattle Seahawks. White is also the first Raiders player to record a sack, a forced fumble and an interception in a game since Khalil Mack in 2016.

And according to Carroll, White could've had an even better game – which the linebacker can use as fuel moving forward.

"Devin White had a great football game," Carroll said Monday, "and he had four tackles he missed, and I say that because he had a great game, and he'll be all pumped up about it, and he should be. But we can do so much better, and so hopefully we try to make this start and get going."

86

Ashton Jeanty continues to see more responsibilities added to his plate as a rookie, which has resulted into team success.

After racking up another 86 scrimmage yards on 25 touches Sunday, he's now second among rookies in franchise history in scrimmage touches (119) and rush attempts (105) through six career games. He also became the third Raiders rookie to record 100 carries within his first six career NFL games, adding his name next to Josh Jacobs and Pro Football Hall of Famer Marcus Allen.

With Jeanty's three-yard touchdown run against the Titans, his five offensive touchdowns are tied for the fourth-most in the league among running backs.

"I thought Ashton ran really hard again," Carroll said. "He's a physical presence when you're playing him. He's going to break tackles. He's going to bounce off of you. ... [T]hat's a statement, and it's a style that we want to stand for. And it's pretty clear, you can go back and you can see this is something that we've always tried to develop in our guys and our team."
