Raiders Mailbag: Which games are you most excited for?

Scott Boe said:

"As a Colorado resident, I'm most looking forward to sweeping the Broncos and restoring the natural order of things."

I'm not going to make any bold proclamations like my guy Scott, but the Raiders did beat the Broncos eight straight times until last season.

Picking up a divisional victory against the Broncos is feasible, but will be difficult considering how talented the Broncos are. They drafted Jahdae Barron, a Jim Thorpe Award winner from Texas, with their 2025 first-round pick. They'll pair him next to reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II on a Broncos defense that was third in fewest points allowed in 2024.

However, the Raiders have amplified their offense in a big way since being swept by the Broncos last season, acquiring Geno Smith at quarterback and drafting Ashton Jeanty and Jack Bech as potential high volume targets for Smith. Chip Kelly as the team's offensive coordinator will also play a helping hand in returning to the win column against Denver.

The two teams' first matchup of the season will be a primetime matchup on Thursday Night Football in Week 10.

"Raiders vs. Eagles in Philly!"

This will be a gritty type of game that true football fans will love to see.

Mid-December, cold as hell, a hostile environment on the road. And it's against the defending Super Bowl champions, to make the stakes even higher.

The Philadelphia Eagles did lose a few key pieces to their roster this offseason i.e. Milton Williams, Josh Sweat and Mekhi Becton. Nevertheless, they're still loaded on both sides of the ball. The head of the snake remains quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was named Super Bowl MVP after completing 77.3 percent of his passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs back in February. His top targets are A.J. Brown and league-leading rusher Saquon Barkley, who won NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

If the Raiders have playoff aspirations, this is one of the games they need to have circled toward the end of the year to make a run. Five of the last six opponents of the season for the Raiders were teams that made the postseason in 2024.
