What They're Saying: Cleveland Browns have all eyes on Brock Bowers

Take a look at what Browns players and coaches had to say ahead of Sunday's matchup.

On TE Brock Bowers:

"He might be the best pass receiving tight end in the league right now. He runs like a wide receiver. He runs great routes, he has great instincts to set down zones. He's good down the field, you know, so we got our work cut out for us with him." – Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz

"Gonna be a great player in this league. Definitely a receiving tight end, got the speed for it. Speed, route running and good hands. Definitely their top player over there." – Browns CB Denzel Ward

"It's kind of like Where's Waldo. Where's 89? He's the focal point of their offense, passing game and everything. He's a good player." – Browns S Grant Delpit

"He's explosive, he catches the ball really well. He knows how to get open, and he knows when to use his speed versus his size, right? Like, he understands the matchup. When can I ricochet off of a guy? When can I use my power to move a guy off of me? And when am I just faster? When can I just run away? And I think what he really is good at, too, is he's effective after the catch. He catches the ball. He gets north to south. He makes people miss. But any yards that he can gain, he's going to gain. I think that's how you show up. You know, you're like, 'Oh, wow, how does this guy have so many yards, so many catches?' And that's how it pops up. And he's efficient, doesn't drop the ball very often. He's consistent. And I think that's, when you play at a high level consistently, it's usually how you end up being a good player." – Browns tight ends coach Christian Jones

On RB Ashton Jeanty:

"His tape looks a lot better than his stats. You know, you look at his stats, he's averaging 3.7 [yards per attempt], which, you know, isn't great. But then you watch his tape, and you don't see where that is because that guy is breaking tackles, making people miss. You know, there is like nothing to hit on him. He's like a bowling ball out there. 5-foot-8 and change and 215, 220 pounds. He's a power running back. I think that he's going to be a good player." – Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz

"He runs hard. He's strong. He's trained his body to be really strong and he's good. He spins. He gets positive yards. I don't think his yards per carry represent who this back is. He's a good player." – Browns linebackers coach Jason Tarver

On QB Geno Smith:

"A vet in this league. Been playing for a long time. Knows how to play and rally a team. He's still a great player and someone we're going to lock in on this week." – Browns CB Denzel Ward

On DE Maxx Crosby:

"I have a ton of respect for how he plays the game. He goes 100 miles an hour about 100% of the time. He has the energy and the effort, the finish for a 60-minute football game. It's really impressive. He can line up on either side, he can really show up anywhere on the field. But the way he plays is truly remarkable." – Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski

"Plays tremendously hard. Plays a lot of snaps. Most of the [pass rushers], maybe at 70%. He's probably at 85, 90% of the snaps, maybe more. I think he plays hard and it's contagious. The whole D-line kinda plays hard off of that. He's so slippery. You see him moving and doing these things and he just kind of slips off blocks or finds ways to get his hands on the ball." – Browns G Joel Bitonio

"He is a very effective player. And I think what's most effective about him is that he plays very hard. And when you play a guy that plays as hard as he does and they're the best player, one of the better players on the team, that lifts everybody else up and their level of effort. So, we're playing, we're going to play against the defense that plays really hard, and he leads the way with that." – Browns tight ends coach Christian Jones

On the Raiders special teams unit:

"They have good specialists, both the punter and the kicker, Cole and Carlson are good. Cole does a nice job with his directional punting, big leg. And the returners are talented, and they got a good core group. They do, top to bottom. They're pretty good. Tucker, Bachmann, Mostert, all those guys have done a good job. Laube has done a good job as a returner. So priority on coverage, definitely this week, we're going against fast returners." – Browns special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone
