Las Vegas comenzĂł la temporada 2026 de la mejor manera posible: con una victoria.
Los Raiders derrotaron 27-13 a los Delfines de Miami en el debut oficial de Klint Kubiak como entrenador en jefe en la NFL, mostrando una actuaciĂłn completa en las tres fases del juego y consiguiendo su triunfo mĂĄs amplio en un partido inaugural desde 2002, cuando vencieron 31-17 a los Halcones Marinos de Seattle.
AdemĂĄs, los 27 puntos anotados representan la segunda mayor cantidad para los Raiders en sus Ășltimos 35 partidos.
Desde el inicio, la ofensiva de Las Vegas mostrĂł eficiencia. Los Raiders tuvieron tres series ofensivas en la primera mitad y consiguieron puntos en cada una de ellas. Jack Bech y Ashton Jeanty encontraron la zona de anotaciĂłn por aire, mientras que Matt Gay agregĂł un gol de campo de 47 yardas para darle a Las Vegas una ventaja de 17-6 al medio tiempo.
Para Bech, fue un momento especialmente importante. El receptor consiguió el primer touchdown de su carrera en temporada regular durante el partido inaugural de su segundo año en la NFL. Como novato en 2025, Bech no logró encontrar la zona de anotación.
"Creo que simplemente tener ese primer año bajo nuestro cinturĂłn y ahora poder salir aquĂ, entender el ritmo del partido, entender cĂłmo funcionan las cosas y poder reconocer un poco mejor las coberturas realmente ayudĂł", explicĂł Bech. "La cantidad de detalles que el Coach (Klint) Kubiak inculca en todo su staff, ofensiva, defensiva y equipos especiales, realmente ha ayudado a ser parte de esto".
La ofensiva también recibió una enorme contribución de Ashton Jeanty.
El corredor terminĂł con 23 acarreos para 102 yardas, ademĂĄs de seis recepciones para 45 yardas y dos touchdowns. En total, Jeanty tuvo 29 toques de balĂłn, acumulĂł 147 yardas y encontrĂł la zona de anotaciĂłn dos veces. Fue apenas la tercera ocasiĂłn en su carrera en la NFL en la que Jeanty superĂł las 100 yardas terrestres.
Esto sucedió exactamente tres semanas después de sufrir una lesión de tobillo en la semana final del campo de entrenamiento, donde tras ello tuvo oportunidades limitadas de practicar. A pesar de ello, su gran actuación fue clave en la victoria del equipo.
"Es mĂĄs o menos lo que hemos llegado a esperar de Ă©l", asegurĂł el entrenador en jefe Klint Kubiak. "Ha sido un lĂder durante todo este proceso y lo que hizo esta noche es lo que esperamos de Ă©l. Pero hacerlo con un tobillo lastimado, con menos entrenamientos de los que estĂĄ acostumbrado, creo que simplemente te demuestra el tipo de persona con la que estĂĄs tratando".
Aunque Kirk Cousins tuvo algunos errores que tendrĂĄ que corregir, el veterano quarterback tambiĂ©n hizo historia. Cousins completĂł 21 de 30 pases para 160 yardas, tres touchdowns y dos intercepciones. Con sus tres pases de anotaciĂłn, llegĂł a 301 touchdowns por aire en su carrera, superando a John Elway, quien terminĂł su carrera con 300, para colocarse en el lugar nĂșmero 14 de todos los tiempos en la NFL.
El siguiente nombre en la lista es Fran Tarkenton, quien terminĂł su carrera con 342 pases de touchdown.
"Creo que simplemente es un testimonio de intentar ganar a largo plazo, de tratar de tener buenos hĂĄbitos durante un perĂodo largo de tiempo", dijo Cousins. Pero los Raiders respondieron. Dylan Laube tuvo un regreso de patada de salida de 50 yardas, la segunda vez en el juego donde tuvo un retorno de al menos 45 yardas, dejando a la ofensiva en una excelente posiciĂłn de campo. Del otro lado del balĂłn, la defensa de Las Vegas impuso presiĂłn constantemente.
Los Raiders terminaron con cinco capturas de mariscal de campo y siete tacleadas para pérdida de yardaje. Kwity Paye lideró al equipo con dos sacks, Maxx Crosby agregó una y media, Nakobe Dean consiguió una y Folorunso Fatukasi registró media captura.
AdemĂĄs, el novato Treydan Stukes consiguiĂł la primera intercepciĂłn de su carrera en la NFL.
"Simplemente seguimos predicando nuestros fundamentos y nuestra técnica", aseveró Stukes. "Salimos con una mentalidad que establecimos hace mucho tiempo sobre cómo vamos a jugar. Creo que los muchachos hicieron un gran trabajo manteniéndose fieles a ese eståndar".
Y todavĂa hubo una Ășltima jugada defensiva para cerrar la tarde. Pero hacerlo después de una victoria siempre es preferible.
Los Raiders arrancaron la temporada con un triunfo convincente, una ofensiva que mostrĂł balance, una lĂnea que protegiĂł a su quarterback, una defensa que generĂł presiĂłn y pĂ©rdidas de balĂłn, y unos equipos especiales que ayudaron a establecer una excelente posiciĂłn de campo.
Ahora llega la primera prueba divisional.
Las Vegas viajarĂĄ a Los Ăngeles para enfrentar en la semana dos a los Cargadores, quienes llegarĂĄn a ese encuentro buscando recuperarse despuĂ©s de caer 26-14 ante los Cardenales de Arizona.
