Raiders Sign Fifth-Round Pick LB Ben Heeney


The Oakland Raiders have signed fifth-round draft pick LB Ben Heeney, the club announced Wednesday.

Heeney is the sixth of the team's 10 draft picks from the 2015 NFL Draft to sign their rookie contract, joining WR Amari Cooper, G/C Jon Feliciano, DE Max Valles, T Anthony Morris and WR Andre Debose.

Heeney was selected 140th overall by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft. He played four seasons at Kansas, starting 34-of-46 games over his career and totaling 335 tackles (214 solo), 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, four interceptions and nine passes defensed. As a senior, he started all 12 games and tallied 127 tackles (88 solo), earning him unanimous All-Big 12 First-Team and Honorable Mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors.
