Q&A with Jack Bech on his Louisiana roots, playing for his brother and more

As the Raiders' 2025 draft picks go through their first NFL training camp, Raiders.com's Levi Edwards is sitting down with each player for a Q&A.

Next is second-round pick Jack Bech.

Levi Edwards: Considering you are a Louisiana native, I must ask, what is your favorite cajun dish?

Jack Bech: "My grandma cooks shrimp stew with boiled eggs and she makes her own roux. She sits and stirs the water, the flour and the oil all in the same pot. She stands up for like an hour, and she's an old lady with hip replacements, but she's standing there making her own roux. Never store bought! So I would definitely say her shrimp stew with boiled eggs."

LE: You were teammates with several NFL receivers during your two seasons at LSU. How did playing with them impact your game?

JB: "Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas, Kayshon Boutte with the Patriots – being able to see them and pick parts from people's game to make my game holistically better has been awesome. Just watching them, see what they do gives you confidence knowing you can do it just as good as them if not better, because you've already done it with them."

LE: LSU was your dream school and you have so many family roots tied to that university. How hard was your decision to transfer to TCU?

JB: "I'm a big believer in God, big believer in my faith, in that everything is meant to happen for a reason. No matter what happens, God does everything for a reason. Going to TCU in the present moment, I thought I had made the wrong decision, messed up. But at the end of the day, it really ended up being the best decision I ever made in my whole life. I can't be more thankful that I ended up at TCU. The people I met, the coach I was surrounded by. The coaches helped me get to this point. God helped me get to this point."

LE: You have that "7 to Heaven" tattoo on you shoulder as a tribute to your brother Tiger. How much do those tattoos mean to you when you look at them?

JB: "My big brother is always with me. It doesn't matter where I'm at, where I'm going, what I'm doing. My big brother is always with me. He's on my shoulder. He's always being an angel, no matter what. God and Tiger are the best guardian angels ever. I pray and talk to them every day. And they're the reasons I'm able to do what I do."

LE: Who in this locker room has helped you the most in adjusting to being in the NFL?

JB: "We have a great locker room. I talked some dudes and they say it's not like this everywhere. We have a really great locker room with so many leaders. The vets in our room Kob [Jakobi Meyers] and Tre [Tucker]. Guys like Maxx [Crosby] are feeding you information and knowledge on if you want to be great, how to get there. There's been so many people and so many more I could name."
