What They're Saying: Chiefs 'fired up' for Raiders rivalry week

Take a look at what Kansas City Chiefs players and coaches had to say ahead of Sunday's matchup.

On the Raiders-Chiefs rivalry:

"It has a little bit of that college atmosphere to it where you have a team that you've had a rivalry with for many years and you feel privileged to be a part of that." – Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

"I always say it doesn't matter if you're doing good, they're doing good, both doing good, both doing bad, this game – it means more to everybody. Everybody that's playing in the game, both sides of the football. You have to have that mentality. It's a true rivalry game. You don't have a lot of those in the NFL and I'm blessed to be a part of it because it really does bring out the best in both teams." – Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes

"It's a rivalry week so we're fired up about that." – Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo

"No matter who's playing on that field, they're gonna play four quarters. I have a [great] deal of respect for them and how they're coached and how they play this game. I mean, we've seen around the league, you can't really sleep on anybody." – Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie

On DE Maxx Crosby:

"Maxx is a heck of a competitor, and he's 100 miles an hour every play. I'm sure he's that way in practice. He just goes and goes." – Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

"A ton of respect. When I talk to him outside of football, it's like we're friends. You wouldn't even see what happens on the football field. But he's the type of competitor like me. When you get on that football field, it's whatever it takes to win and you're going to leave everything on the football field. I have a ton of respect for that." – Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes

"He goes 100 percent of the time all the time and its relentless. He's a game changer. He can affect the game. Just a ton of respect and you've got to know where he's at on every play." – Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy

On RB Ashton Jeanty:

"He's got incredible contact balance. You see it in that 60-plus yard touchdown run he broke where he was able to break the leg tackle there going down the sideline. Obviously, we know what he did at Boise State. They're giving him a lot of touches. ... They're trying to give him the ball in a lot of different ways and obviously they think very highly of him." – Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill

"He can make all the cuts. I mean, you look at the Chicago game when he broke those long runs, you look at the Washington game, he had some great runs in there. Every week, he's gotten better and better. So it's all hands on deck. All 11. We're going to have our hands full. He's a heck of a player; he was at Boise and he's continuing to do it." – Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen

On Head Coach Pete Carroll:

"Pete, who we know has done this once or twice, he's a heck of a football coach." – Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

On offensive coordinator Chip Kelly:

"He's a phenomenal schemer, offensive coach. He's going to put his players in best positions to make plays." - Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen
