Training Camp Notebook 8/10: Tre Tucker, Alex Bachman see high productivity day

Read through for notes, quotes and observations from Sunday's practice.

Offense

  • Tre Tucker enjoyed another day of high productivity, being Geno Smith's top target during team period. Another receiver who excelled was Alex Bachman, despite working through a lingering ankle injury.
  • The early portion of practice was predicated toward running the ball. Coming off a touchdown catch in the preseason game, Dylan Laube saw a few more reps than usual.
  • "He has really been the epitome of a great competitor so far," Pete Carroll said of Laube. "All the way through the lead in of OTA sessions and all of that, he always stood out with his effort and finish and all of that."
  • Another player who's seemingly converted their preseason showing into more reps is Shedrick Jackson, who had 76 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks. He saw second-team reps in Sunday's practice.
  • Guards Jackson Powers-Johnson and Alex Cappa are suffering minor rib injuries, according to Carroll, and were limited. Atonio Mafi got first-team reps in team period in their place.
  • UDFA Carter Runyon had a touchdown grab near the end of practice in red zone drills. He had three catches for 33 yards in Thursday's preseason outing.

Defense

  • Jamal Adams made another impressive pass deflection in practice, sprinting to break up what would've been a Brock Bowers touchdown. Adams has excelled over the last week, and could be pushing for a starting role.
  • Sam Webb also had nice pass breakup on Runyon in red zone drills, a few plays after the tight end's touchdown grab.
  • The defensive line continues to tinker with Tyree Wilson seeing first-team reps at defensive tackle. According to Carroll, Adam Butler has missed the last few practices due to personal reasons. Wilson, Zach Carter and new acquisition Thomas Booker IV have stepped up to fill in.
  • Chris Smith II looks like he's getting more comfortable with first-team reps at strong safety, however Trey Taylor has been equally capable with the second-team unit. Additionally, the Raiders on Sunday signed safety Terrell Edmunds, who has accumulated 79 career starts and six interceptions.

Special Teams

  • It remains an interesting development of what role Ashton Jeanty could play in special teams, as the presumed starting running back has seen return work over the last few days. He is listed second on the team's unofficial depth chart in the punt return role.

Quote of the Day

If you want to play on a great team, you need to be a great teammate. And being a great teammate is giving to the guys you play with and feeling that responsibility. Pete Carroll
